Accommodation
The accommodation on board ranges from charming and comfortable twin or double bed staterooms, to suites with additional seating areas. All the cabins come with a private en-suite featuring a shower. Special care has been taken on board each barge to combine traditional features, such as hardwood panelling, antique furniture and décor, with the expected comforts of modern luxury such as full air conditioning and central heating.
Dining
Dining on board European Waterways' vessels is designed to be one of the highlights of your cruise, showcasing the very best of French and international cuisine.
Breakfast is a buffet style service including a variety of fresh croissants and pastries from the local patisserie, as well as fresh fruit and an array of other accompaniments. All served with freshly tea and coffee, breakfast can be enjoyed in the onboard restaurant or out on the deck.
Lunch is a colourful array of salads, pates, quiches and cheeses all accompanied by a specially selected choice of wines from the barge cellar. Dinner is set to be the culinary highlight of the day, served by candlelight; each course is again complimented by a specially selected fine wine.
Facilities
All of the barges in the fleet come with a range of onboard facilities to ensure passengers comfort throughout the whole trip. Many of the barges have an on deck hot and small exercise room complete with equipment. There are also music systems available, as well as free Wi-Fi throughout to ensure you’re entertained during your relaxed downtime on board.
There is also an onboard library on each hotel barge, with some offering a spa pool and sun deck. There is of course also an open bar fully stocked with a wide variety of alcoholic and soft drinks.
Excursions
Excursions from European Waterways cruises are designed with you in mind and offer a range of activities to cater for everyone, from cultural experiences and historical sites to sampling local produce and wines. Each excursion is led by an expert crew member or tour guide to make sure you get the most out of all the amazing places you will visit.
Typical Excursions include tours of the amazing Dijon food markets, wine tastings in Chablis, historic tours of medieval Carcassonne and Scotland’s Cawdor Castle, home to Shakespeare’s Macbeth and visit the stunning Ducal Palace of Mantua. All of the amazing excursions on offer are optional and mostly included within your cruise fare.
