Far Horizon

Formed in 1992 by two passionate professionals of the Tourism Industry, Far Horizon Tours came into being to offer intriguing travel opportunities, one-of-a-kind, to discerning travellers from across the world. Created with the ideals of promoting India, which is beyond the Taj Mahal.

As Far Horizons of India journeyed through the years it explored and pioneered tourism into many off the beaten path destinations where travellers could experience a combination of living cultures with its natural history in the lap of its natural heritage. This was enabled through setting up of luxury camps, eco retreats and river cruise boats in the very pristine unravelled destinations in the interiors. We continue unravelling new horizons onto roads and rivers less travelled, putting a great mix of soft adventure, culture and nature with experiential journeys.

We are still an unparalleled outfit in this grand scheme of travel opportunities as we stand strong on three pillars of strength - Creativity, Quality and Value - catering to special interest of the traveller and have achieved 90%+ Excellence Rating as rated by travellers through our overseas and domestic partners!! We have been twice declared as the best in-bound travel company of South Asia, the best adventure travel company of India and the most creative tours company of India with last two being National Tourism Awards of India.

Accommodation

With capacity for just 46 guests, the cabins aboard MV Mahabaahu are spacious. There are two sumptuous suites located at the front of the ship and the rest of the cabins are made up of nine balcony options and 12 that don’t have an outside space. All of the accommodation offers the same facilities, which include air-conditioning, satellite TV, a personal safe, a minibar and a private bathroom. Facilities will be slightly more basic when sailing aboard the houseboats on the Kerala backwaters.

Dining

Anyone who enjoys Indian food will love their time sailing with Far Horizon as the meal options are passionately prepared using local ingredients. You will taste your way through the different regions of the country, with a few international dishes offered alongside. Breakfast and lunch take the form of a freshly prepared buffet, whilst the evening meal is waiter-served from an a la carte menu.

Facilities

The public spaces on board are very comfortable and designed to help you relax during your river cruise. As well as the restaurant that doubles as a lecture theatre, there is a welcoming lounge, a swimming pool, spa facilities and a covered sun deck. For some added peace and quiet, there is also a well-stocked library where you can find books and board games. Once again, the public facilities will be more limited on the houseboats in Kerala.

Excursions

The activities off the ship are aimed to give you an in-depth look at the culture of India through learning about its people, its wildlife and its attractions. With excursions in the major cities and enrichment opportunities in remote towns and villages, you get to see both sides of this intriguing country. Specific excursions during the river cruise include meeting local weavers and watching them carry out their craft, explore the Kaziranga National Park and visiting a tea plantation. These are accompanied by land tours that not only let you discover the major sights of India but can also take you to countries such as Bhutan and Sri Lanka.
