Accommodation
With ships chartered from cruise lines such as AmaWaterways, Sanctuary Retreats and American Cruise Lines, the accommodation will vary depending on where you are sailing and which ship you choose. The entire European fleet will offer the choice of a balcony suite or one with a picture window at shoulder height, whilst the Concerto ships that travel the Rhine, Main, Danube and Moselle Rivers will have the addition of twin balcony suites available.
The ships in Asia also have some great balcony options, these coming in the form of a full, walk-out area or a panoramic balcony courtesy of a sliding window. Sanctuary Yangzi Explorer is home to the largest suites on the Yangtze River.
Standard amenities in Europe include flat-screen TVs, internet access, a personal safe, plenty of space to store your belongings and a sitting area. All cabins and suites across the entire APT fleet have their own private bathroom.
Dining
APT are proud that all of their European vessels have been inducted into La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, a prestigious organisation that only allows members by invitation only. It is, therefore, no surprise that your river cruise will be full of fantastic gastronomic experiences during which you get to sample some of the finest dishes from the regions you travel through. No less than seven dining options are offered on the waterways of Europe, including a fine dining restaurant, al fresco lunch spots and exclusive evenings in the intimate Wine Room for up to 12 guests at one time.
Travelling through Asia will provide a culinary adventure, as expert chefs use the finest local ingredients to allow you to explore the local culture with your taste buds. However, there will be some international favourites available too.
In Europe and along the Yangtze and Ganges, there will be free-flowing wine, beer and soft drinks available during meals. If you choose a Mekong cruise, though, you will not only be able to enjoy a welcome and degustation dinner designed by TV chef Luke Nguyen, you will also have complimentary access to the above drinks throughout the entire cruise.
Facilities
Each and every APT ship will offer comfortable lounges, one or more dining venues, a sun deck for relaxing in the open air, and spa and wellness facilities to help you relax even further. Some of the Aria and Concerto ships sailing through Europe will also offer a swimming pool, as does AmaLotus in Vietnam and Cambodia. Other public areas on certain ships include a library and a small putting green.
Excursions
Daily sightseeing excursions are included in the price of each cruise and are designed to help you experience famous landmarks and some lesser known gems. Many tours include wireless audio headsets so you never have to miss a word on the local history or culture, and there are a small number of bicycles available on board each ship so you can roam each port at their own pace.
Local performers will also come on board to offer enriching entertainment. This could be in the form of anything from gypsy violinists in Budapest to an evening of Khmer dance along the Mekong.
