Accommodation
The cabins on board the American Queen and American Empress combine classic elegance with modern amenities. A variety of luxurious suites and cabins are available onboard the American Queen including; inside, outside and veranda suites. Every cabin features luxurious linens, classic design, en-suite bathroom with WC, shower, Flat screen TV and decorative touches. Suites also come with bathtubs for added luxury.
All cabins on board the American Empress are outside facing with either a balcony or a picture view window. Every detail on board both ships had been perfected to make them two of the most elegant cruise ships in the world.
Dining
The classic dining menu on board the American Queen is filled with traditional American cuisines such as seared catfish, crab, Creole soup and rice pilaf.
There are a wide variety of dining options available on the American Queen; Breakfast and lunch served in either a traditional dining or buffet style to suit your tastes in the centrepiece restaurant of J.M. White Dining Room. Dinner is a traditional dining format with a feast of dishes inspired by the Deep South. Onboard the American Empress your dinner is served in the sumptuous Romanov Dining room.
The Front Porch Café is open 24 hours for those midnight cravings with an abundance of snacks and sweet treats.
The highly trained chefs of the American Queen Company, headed up by highly regarded chef Regina Charboneau, are able to cater to any dietary requirement you may have upon request, including healthier, vegetarian and allergy friendly options.
Included in the price of your cruise are all meals, all soft drinks, alcoholic drinks with meals and the Captains Champagne reception.
Facilities
The Grand Saloon on board the American Queen is the stunning home to the evening's sensational musical performances. At two storeys high you can enjoy the sounds of America is this stunning theatre. Featuring everything from the sounds of Dixieland, Big Band, Rock and Roll to classic Jazz every night offers something new.
The Showroom on the American Empress is a more intimate venue with stunning soloists, fabulous pianists and fascinating lectures. Both ships have daily lectures by highly knowledgeable Riverlorians who can teach you everything about the destinations you will visit including the history and folklores of the regions.
The onboard Spa features a range of treatments to help you relax whilst you cruise included scrubs and massages. If you like to stay more active then you can make use of the state of the art gym equipment. The American Queen also features a pool on the sundeck.
Excursions
All shore excursions are included in the cost of your cruise and are held on a daily basis; there are no sea days on a river cruise! Bikes and helmets are also available free for use for those who prefer to explore on their own.
A variety of excursions are available to you along each river;
Cruise along the Lower Mississippi and tread in the footsteps of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn in Mark Twain country. Excursions are available to Graceland and The Vicksburg Battlefield. You can also experience Mississippi Delta Gospel and the Birthplace of the Blues or soak in the antebellum décor in the many plantations which line the river.
Along the Upper Mississippi River, you take in excursions about many famous Americans who have lived in the area including Abraham Lincoln and Buffalo Bill. You can also visit the National Eagle Centre and get up close and personal with these spectacular creatures.
The Ohio and Tennessee Rivers have many fantastic cities for you to explore including Chattanooga, Louisville and Cincinnati. Be sure to pay a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, a must for all country music lovers.
Cruising on board the American Empress takes you through the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Here you can follow in the footsteps of the great explorers Lewis and Clark, visit the Sacajawea National Park, climb Mount St Helens or visit the Walla Walla Wine Trail.
