Two New River Ships Named For 2018

11th April 2017

River cruise lines may only now be christening their latest ships for 2017, but many have already released exciting plans for next year too. In recent weeks, both Amadeus River Cruises and American Cruise Lines have announced the names of ships set to debut in 2018. Amadeus Queen and American Constitution may be two distinctly different ships, sailing in two vastly different regions, but they’re both sure to be interesting new additions to the world’s waterways.

Austrian operator Amadeus River Cruises will add their 15th ship to the fleet in 2018 with another luxurious and spacious vessel. Amadeus Queen will sail throughout Europe on the Danube, Rhine and Main Rivers, as well as the Belgian and Dutch Waterways. As with previous vessels, there will be plenty of space in both the public areas and cabins for guests to relax and make themselves at home. Along with 69 standard staterooms, there will be 12 sumptuous suites that feature full step-out balconies and an inviting spot that’s perfect for reading. Most of the standard cabins will have panoramic windows that glide down at the touch of a button and all the accommodation options will include infotainment systems, luxurious bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes.

One of the most exciting features on board this new ship will be the indoor swimming pool which sits under a roof that can be retracted when the sun is shining. Sure to be a popular area of Amadeus Queen, the space will also host evening events such as lectures and film screenings.

During her debut season, Amadeus Queen will sail itineraries through the Dutch tulip fields, as well as cruises from Passau and an extended trip between Amsterdam and Budapest.

American Constitution

Named after the US Navy’s oldest remaining vessel, American Constitution will offer a river cruising environment to guests who don’t want to be restricted by inland waterways. Just like her sister ship, American Constellation, Constitution will be built with full active wing stabilisation. This means that she can comfortably explore the waters along the New England coastline and Pacific Northwest of America. Because she will visit these unique destinations, she will carry Zodiacs and kayaks to allow guests to explore further afield.

Set to be a modern vessel in terms of technology and décor, there will be room on board for a maximum capacity of 175 guests. The overwhelming majority of cabins feature full private balconies and there are three different communal lounges in which to make new friends or enjoy a cold drink. Like other ships in the American Cruise Lines fleet, American Constitution will offer free Wi-Fi, a complimentary cocktail hour every evening and a putting green on the top deck.

The ship will begin sailing in February 2018 and will offer the ‘Grand Historic South Cruise’ from Charleston and itineraries within Chesapeake Bay.

Cruises on board both of these ships are now on sale so call us now for more information or to make a booking. We can also tailor-make your trip by including a pre or post-cruise stay in your chosen destination.
